What Patrick Dinnen has done in 2008

Recent stories by and about Patrick Dinnen

Why I like Patrick Dinnen

He’s quiet and intense at the same time. I am WAAAAY too loud a lot of the time, and Patrick exudes that silent intensity.

We talked a bit, but I was in adrenaline junky conference monkey mode and didn’t have as good a discussion as we could have.

Next time!

The last time I saw Patrick Dinnen

Was at BarCampTdot. =) Hooray for Wireless Toronto!

Must talk to him about the Innovation Commons…

Why I like Patrick Dinnen

Because he’s a tireless proponent of free wireless Internet as a way to build community.

Why I want to meet Chris Nolan.ca

Because he working on some cool wisdom of crowdy stuff and I’m interested to see how/whether that works in practice.

How I met Patrick Dinnen

Just met real brief @ a social tech meeting and he was kind enough to get me on the wireless when it flaked out in the middle of my presentation so I could keep talking and not have to fiddle.
Thanks.

Why I like Patrick Dinnen

I like Patrick because he felt he wanted to make a change in his life – http://hogtownconsulting.com – which can be scary thing to do, but he just went ahead and did it anyway :)

Why I admire Craig Newmark

I saw Craig speak at SXSWi 2006. Inspirational is probably an overused word, but he was inspirational in the true sense.

How I met Cory Doctorow

In 2005 I was working with a volunteer group, Wireless Toronto, setting up free WiFi networks around Toronto. At that same time as Cory was finishing his book Someone Comes to Town, Someone Leaves Town, about hackers building a free WiFi network in Toronto.

When Cory was in town for the book launch I met up with him. He seems like a good guy, and super generous with sharing his prodigious contacts and knowledge. Plus he knew some cool stuff about RFID security problems, and geeks love that.

Why I like Jim Munroe

I like Jim because he’s doing some very cool and inspirational things, and he’s doing it all without ‘the man’.

How I met Rob Purdie

I met Rob at the first Social Tech Toronto meetup I ever went to.

I wasn’t sure if I really belonged there(maybe my social tech credentials were going to be checked at the door?).

Immediately I sat down Rob started a conversation with me and made me feel at ease, that’s an important thing.
